LADIR

Co-Chairs: Senta M. Berggruen, MD & Jamlik-Omari Johnson, MD

The AAR has created a Leaders in Advocating Diversity & Inclusion in Radiology (LADIR) Special Interest Group. As radiology departments increasingly recognize the value of an internal leadership position dedicated to diversity, equity, and inclusion, they are appointing designated leadership roles in this arena. Most of these positions are newly generated with no specific guidelines or descriptions.

In addition, there are no established best practices or metrics by which to determine success and no current established comprehensive multi-institutional forum to exchange ideas, share resources, and establish consensus. The new SIG fills these unmet needs.

Mission:
To help guide radiology departments in supporting diversity, equity, inclusion and a sense of belonging (DEIB) within radiology, medicine, and the greater community, LADIR aims to create multi-institutional structures to exchange ideas, share resources and establish best practices and expert consensus in this area.

Vision:
LADIR will focus on amplifying DEIB in key areas including:

  1. Education and Curriculum Development
  2. Policy and Best Practices
  3. Recruitment, Mentorship and Pathway Development
  4. Communication and Social Media
  5. Research and Scholarship
  6. Community Engagement
  7. Artificial Intelligence Development
