Membership Applications |

Membership Requirements

Full Membership
(Dues: $240 per year)
Requirements for Full Membership
are as follows:
 |
All
radiology faculty of an accredited medical
school or of an institution with a ACGME-approved
radiology residency or fellowship program,
whether or not it is university-based,
and faculty or equivalent as determined
by the Membership Committee in programs
applicable to or related to the radiologic
sciences will be eligible for full membership. |
 |
The
member or nominee for membership must
spend at least a majority of his or her
time in the teaching of medical students
or residents, in patient care related
to teaching activities, in research,
or in attendant administrative duties.
This level of activity must be attested
to by the dean, director or chief executive
of the institution or chair of the department
in the application for membership and
must be continued for retention of membership
in the Association. |

The
nominee must list at least one AUR member
as a reference on his/her application
for membership. |
 |
To be eligible for nomination
for full membership, the nominee must have
shown promise or accomplishment in the
academic pursuits stated in the purposes
of the Association. |
Election to Full Membership
 |
Applications
for full membership will be reviewed by
the Administrative staff of the Association.
When all requirements for membership are
fulfilled, the nominee will be recommended
for membership. |
 |
When the nominee's
application needs further evaluation, the
Membership Committee will review nominations
for membership and will present its recommendations
at the interim meeting of the Board of
Directors and at the Board of Directors
meeting at the annual meeting of the Association.
The Secretary-treasurer will report to
the nominee's sponsors an unfavorable review
of the promise or accomplishments of a
nominee by the Membership Committee. With
the agreement of the nominee, the sponsors
may require the nomination to be submitted
to the Board of Directors for vote despite
the unfavorable recommendation of the Membership
Committee, in which case the appropriate
documents will be circulated with those
of all other nominees. The Secretary-treasurer
will circulate the names of the nominees,
their academic ranks, academic associations,
and names of their sponsors to the all
members of the Board of Directors at least
one month prior to the annual meeting of
the Association and the interim meeting
of the Board of Directors. |

The Board of Directors
will elect full members biannually at the
annual meeting of the AUR and at the interim
meeting of the Board of Directors by regular
mail, electronic mail or by facsimile transmission.
The affirmative vote of the Board of Directors
will constitute election to membership. |
Privileges
of Full Membership
 |
All
full members have voting privileges. |
 |
All full members
may serve on committees and as officers
of the
Association. |

Associate Membership (Dues: $240
per year)
Requirements for Associate Members
are as follows:
 |
All
radiology residency/fellowship program
coordinators, radiology medical student
curriculum coordinators, computer support
personnel, and radiology nurses and technologists,
in an accredited medical school, in an
institution with a radiology residency
or fellowship program, whether or not it
is university based, or in a program applicable
to or related to radiology or the radiologic
sciences will be eligible for associate
membership. |

The member or nominee
for membership must spend a significant
amount of his or her time in academic or
administrative duties related to radiology
or the radiologic sciences. This level
of activity must be attested to by the
dean, director, or chief executive of the
institution, or chair of the department
in the application for membership, and
must be continued for retention of membership
in the Association. |

The nominee must

Junior Membership (Dues: $60 per year)
Requirements
for Junior Membership are as
follows:

All
trainees in ACGME-approved
radiology residency programs
or fellowship or radiology
faculty in the first two
years of their first faculty
appointment will be eligible
for junior membership. |
 |
The
status of the nominees
must be verified by department
chairs for junior faculty
or by program directors
for residents and fellows. |
Election to Junior Membership
 |
When
verified by the Chair (junior
faculty) or by the Program
Directors (residents and
fellows), the nominees
will be elected to the
AUR at the direction of
the President of the AUR. |
Eligibility for Full Membership
 |
Junior
members will retain their
junior status until the
conclusion of their residency
or fellowship training
or for the first two years
of faculty status, whichever
is applicable. At that
time, junior members will
be eligible for full membership
under Section I. Junior
membership status will
be maintained while the
nominee is considered for
full membership status. |
Privileges
of Junior Membership
 |
Junior
members may attend the
annual business meeting
but will not be eligible
to vote. |
 |
Junior
members may serve on committees. |

Emeritus Membership:
Requirements for Emeritus Membership
are as follows:
 |
Members,
when retired or appointed
to emeritus status, may
become Emeritus members
of the Association upon
application to the Chair
of the Membership Committee. Emeritus
members will continue in
the same membership category
and will retain all of
the rights and privileges
of regular membership,
except that they will not
pay dues, hold office,
or vote. |
 |
Emeritus
members will continue to
hold that honorary status
regardless of their academic
or professional activities. |
Termination
of Membership
 |
Any
full, associate, or junior
member who relinquishes
his or her faculty or equivalent
position, any associate
member who relinquishes
his or her role in academic
or administration functions
in radiology or the radiological
sciences, or any junior
member who relinquishes
his or her residency or
fellowship position shall
be required to inform the
Association of his or her
change in status. Upon
a finding by the Association
that a member no longer
satisfies membership requirements,
membership shall automatically
be terminated. When members
re-establish their academic
role, they will be reinstated
in their prior membership
category after payment
of dues. |
